Climate  and  Energy  Bills  2020

Bills that 350 New Mexico supported and opposed during the  2020 30-day regular New Mexico legislative session (January 21 to February 20, 2020).

Short sessions deal with budget and governor-called issues.  This session ended with the passage of three key bills: HB233 – Grid Modernization, SB29 – Solar Tax Credit and HM9 – Renewable Energy Investment Strategic Plan. Opponents filibustered many of the other good bills and ran out the clock on this short session, including HB217 the EV tax credit bill, which came within hours of passing on the final day. Many others were tabled in the finance committees.
(This regular session was followed by a First Special Session in June 2020 (June 18-22) for COVID-19 related matters, and a Second Special Session in December 2020 (Dec 14) to address federal funding, with adjourned dates listed as late as Feb 22, 2021, due to the pandemic’s impact).
