For the 2020 legislative session (Jan 21-Feb 20), several important climate and energy bills are on the Governor’s call, link. 350 New Mexico supported all these bills, especially the ones for an EV tax credit and Grid modernization. The bills we support are listed in the table below. Also below are links to contact information for legislators by committee and schedules for committee hearings, so you can email and call legislators and attend hearings to speak in favor of passing this important legislation.
The session ended 2/20/2020 with passage of three key bills: HB233 – Grid Modernization, SB29 – Solar Tax Credit and HM9 – Renewable Energy Investment Strategic Plan.
Opponents filibustered many of the other good bills and ran out the clock on this short session, including HB217 the EV tax credit bill, which came within hours of passing on the final day. Many others were tabled in the finance committees. Still, the bills that passed are important and we thank the legislative climate champions and supporters who made that happen. We’ll try again in Jan 2021.
